In addition to the CORONAVIRUS GUIDELINES

You are here

Dear residents of ŠDL,

taking into consideration the first case of disease in Slovenia and the identified cases of new coronavirus disease (SARS-CoV-2) in northern Italy and in places where this virus is currently more prevalent, we at Študentski dom Ljubljana prepared instructions for the prevention of spreading the disease, in order to be able to continue with our normal daily activities.

COVID-19 disease that causes the new coronavirus is quite similar to other respiratory infections, such as flu. The symptoms of the disease are malaise, fatigue, shortness of breath, fever, cough, and in severe forms the feeling of lack of air. Data show that as many as in 80% of the cases, the disease is mild and people recover without complications.

Daily hygiene measures, which must be carried out consistently, are effective to prevent respiratory infections, including infections with the new coronavirus.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, especially after sneezing and/or coughing.
  • If water and soap are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% of ethanol to disinfect the hands.
  • Before coughing or sneezing, we must cover our mouth and nose with a handkerchief or cough and sneeze into the upper part of your sleeve and into your palm.
  • Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people, who show signs of an infectious disease.
  • If we get sick, we stay at home.
  • In times of increased occurrence of respiratory infections, we avoid closed spaces, where there are a lot of people and provide regular ventilation of closed spaces.
  • We regularly clean and disinfect object and surfaces that are frequently touched (e.g. hooks, countertops, all accessible surfaces of walls and windows, toilet bowl, sink taps, etc.).
  • We do not recommend the general use of protective masks. Protective masks are intended for healthcare professionals, who are in contact with people, who may be infected and for patients to protect others from the spread of the disease.

In order to raise awareness of correct preventive measures, the Health Center Ljubljana has established a telephone number 031/619-255, which is available 24 hours a day.

If there are signs suggestive of coronavirus disease, the person with signs of acute respiratory infections (fever, cough, shortness of breath) and who has in the last 14 days visited the areas, where there is an increase risk of new coronavirus disease, or person was in close contact with infected person, the should separate himself to a separate space or maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters away from other people. The patient should be consulted via the telephone (the selected personal doctor of the patient during regular working hours, the UKC Ljubljana Emergency Medical Service on 01 522 45 40 or emergency call 112), where he will receive the instructions on further measures.

In order to not infect the others, do not visit the medical clinic unannounced. The health service is informed of, and well prepared for, suspected coronavirus disease.

We also advise you to inform your guests or acquaintances from more affected countries to postpone their visit to ŠDL until further notice.

We also advise you to follow the websites and social networks of the National Institute of Public Health  (https://www.nijz.si/sl/koronavirus-2019-ncov), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We will keep you updated on any further information.
